Shopper Groups

The vital tool for calculating correct conversion rates

SPSL's research and development over many years means that we're now recognised as the market leader in retail sectors when it comes to measuring and interpreting groups of shoppers as they enter a store.

This kind of Shopper Group counting technology is not only the most robust available, it's unique to SPSL. By using SPSL's advanced Shopper Group algorithms a retailer can be confident that they are measuring the real opportunities entering their stores and thus recording accurate conversion rates.

What should be measured?

We measure every kind of shopper in every kind of shopper group. The algorithm takes account of both individuals shopping alone or in family groups.

In addition to measuring buying opportunities, the system eliminates loiter, pushchairs and prams, while also recognising false counts caused by tampering. The algorithm used also changes according to the type of store and the retail sector in question. A family entering a DIY store is monitored differently to a family entering a stationer's, for instance.
